Purdue University and Arizona Lead US Semiconductor Expansion

Purdue Research Foundation and Purdue University are deepening ties with Taiwan’s semiconductor leaders, including visits to the Taiwanese Ministry of Education and Ministry of Economic Affairs. The partnership aims to develop AI‑driven chip technologies, quantum computing research, and a talent pipeline that positions Indiana as a new hub for semiconductor innovation as the United States reshapes its manufacturing base.

SEMI announced that its flagship North‑American trade show, SEMICON West, will move to a permanent spring schedule at the Phoenix Convention Center, with the first event set for March 30‑April 1 2027. The shift reflects the rapid growth of Arizona’s semiconductor ecosystem, which has attracted more than $200 billion in investment since 2020 and includes workforce‑development initiatives such as the National Network for Microelectronics Education Southwest Regional Node.
