Purdue Volleyball faces No. 13 Creighton in season opener

No. 9 Purdue Volleyball is set to open its 2026 season against No. 13 Creighton at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Friday, August 28. The match, part of the State Farm Volleyball Showcase, will be broadcast on FOX.

If Purdue secures a victory, head coach Dave Shondell will become the outright all-time winningest head coach in Purdue Athletics history, surpassing the 512 wins recorded by men's basketball coach Gene Keady. This matchup also marks the first time Purdue Volleyball has played a match in the state of South Dakota.

Creighton enters the season led by head coach Brian Rosen, coming off a Big 12 championship and an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Key returning players for the Bluejays include middle blocker Jaya Johnson and outside hitter Abbey Hayes.
