Purgatorije Festival: ‘Prljave ruke’ wins top honors

The production ‘Prljave ruke’ (Dirty Hands), produced by the Tivat Culture Center, won major awards at the 21st Purgatorije Festival of Mediterranean Theatre 2026. The play was named the best production of the festival.

Director Jug Radivojević received the ‘Jagoš Marković’ award for best direction. The jury praised his concept for stripping the production of traditional scenery, costumes, and props, focusing instead on the strength of the text and the actors.

In the acting categories, Miloš Biković won the award for best male role, and Lara Dragović won for best female role. Dragović, who received the honor for her work in both ‘Prljave ruke’ and ‘Bolivud’, noted that the minimalist concept of ‘Prljave ruke’ placed the entire burden of the performance on the actors' ability to connect with the audience and the dramatic text.
