Puri authorities seal five sweet-making units during food safety raids

Authorities in Puri have intensified inspections of sweet-making units to prevent adulteration and ensure food safety compliance ahead of the upcoming festive season. A joint team from the Food Safety Unit and the Puri district administration conducted raids on several manufacturing establishments, including those in Dolamandap Sahi near the Shree Jagannath Temple.

During the recent operation, officials seized approximately four quintals of khaja, sugar syrup, and eight domestic LPG cylinders. Five manufacturing units were sealed for alleged violations of food safety regulations, and two pushcarts were also confiscated.

This enforcement drive follows a previous major inspection where authorities seized and destroyed five quintals of khaja and syrup, resulting in the sealing of four additional units. Officials stated that inspections will continue throughout Puri to monitor the quality of food products sold to tourists, devotees, and local consumers during the period of increased demand.
