Purina invests 50 million euros in Portogruaro plant
Purina, a subsidiary of Nestlé, has announced an investment of over 50 million euros to support two major projects at its Portogruaro plant in Italy. The announcement coincides with the 40th anniversary of the facility, which was founded in 1986.
The first project focuses on modernizing and expanding the plant to meet increasing demand in the super-premium pet food segment. The second project involves the construction of an internal wastewater treatment plant. This new facility will allow the site to manage wastewater directly, reducing the need for external transport and minimizing environmental impact.
These developments are part of a broader industrial strategy in Italy, which also includes a recently announced production hub in Mantova. The Portogruaro site remains one of Purina’s most advanced locations in its European network, specializing in dry food production for dogs and cats.
