PuriosAI CEO Baek Jun-ho and AI Pioneer Lee Sedol Address AI Future at 2026 Jeju Forum

At the 2026 Han Kyung‑Hyeop Jeju Summer Forum held at the Lotte Hotel in Seogwipo, Jeju, PuriosAI founder and CEO Baek Jun‑ho outlined the company’s strategy to build domestic AI chips. He said PuriosAI rejected a multi‑trillion‑won acquisition offer from Meta, is mass‑producing a low‑power NPU‑based AI processor called Renegade 2, and targets data‑center chips that could drive demand for up to 100 GW of AI compute capacity by 2030. In a separate session, former Go champion and UNIST special professor Lee Sedol reflected on the 2016 AlphaGo match, noting that DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis later earned a Nobel Prize for AlphaFold while South Korea has not achieved comparable AI breakthroughs.
