Purolator National Red Bag campaign collects food donations in Langley

The Purolator Tackle Hunger National Red Bag campaign is currently underway, inviting residents in Langley and other communities to support local food banks. Following a distribution of reusable red bags around September 19, volunteers are scheduled to collect donations of non-perishable food on Saturday, September 26.

Across Canada, the initiative involves the distribution of more than 66,000 bags across 21 communities. Since becoming a national initiative in 2023, the campaign has contributed to providing over 515,000 meals. The program, which began in 2003, involves employees and customers in both Canada and the United States to address rising food insecurity.

Food Banks Canada reported that food bank visits reached nearly 2.2 million in March 2025, doubling the number of visits recorded in 2019. Officials noted that the campaign is vital for helping food banks respond to this growing demand for essential support.
