Purísima del Rincón producers reject Irapuato-Guadalajara train route

Agricultural workers and ejidatarios in Purísima del Rincón, Guanajuato, have expressed formal opposition to the proposed route of the Irapuato-Guadalajara train. During a meeting with representatives from three levels of government, producers warned that the federal preliminary project poses significant risks to their lands and local communities.

Participants raised concerns regarding the logic of the proposed path, noting that certain areas are muddy and potentially unsuitable. They have requested that authorities provide more detailed information and hold local meetings to explain the technical definitions used in the project, which reportedly involves deep drilling work by the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional.

Municipal President Roberto García Urbano acknowledged the legitimacy of these social concerns, stating that the current route could damage the agricultural sector and compromise access roads for the community of Montegrande. A formal minute was signed by officials and community representatives to document the disagreement and ensure the concerns are communicated to all affected producers.
