Puruni River Bridge project advances in Guyana

The Government of Guyana is advancing the construction of the Puruni River Bridge and associated access roads in Region 7. The project, undertaken by Aris Mining, will replace an existing pontoon crossing with a 109-metre modular steel bridge.

The new infrastructure is designed to support the mining and forestry sectors by providing a more reliable connection for an economic corridor that includes nearly 500 mining and forestry concessions. The improved roads will also allow heavy industrial traffic to be diverted away from main community roads.

Beyond industrial use, the project includes community development components such as a health centre, a digital school facility, a multi-purpose government facility, a playground, an agricultural area, and a formal waste-disposal area. The project is expected to be completed by December 2026.
