Purva Dhawan summits 5,826-meter Mount Rudra Gaira

Lucknow-based mountaineer Purva Dhawan successfully reached the 5,826-meter summit of Mount Rudra Gaira on September 10. Accompanied by Shailesh Semwal and Bihari Singh Rana, the team completed a challenging ascent involving steep ice, rocky terrain, and low oxygen levels.

Dhawan’s expedition was motivated by the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ message, a mission she previously discussed with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In addition to her climbing goals, she is promoting environmental conservation through her ‘Peaks and Plastic’ initiative, which aims to raise awareness about plastic waste in mountain regions.

Following this achievement, Dhawan has set her sights on climbing Mount Everest.
