Purwakarta man detained for allegedly abusing child over money

A man identified as PY has been detained by the Purwakarta Police in West Java following allegations of abusing his biological child. The incident, which reportedly occurred in February 2025 in Citalang, came to light after a video of the abuse went viral on social media.

According to West Java Regional Police spokesperson Kombes Pol Hendra Rochmawan, the suspect allegedly committed the violence to pressure his wife, a migrant worker (TKW) stationed abroad, into sending money more quickly. The victim, the suspect's child, was reportedly dragged and kicked, resulting in significant psychological trauma. The child is currently experiencing fear and a refusal to attend school.
