Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurates martyr memorial at India-Nepal border

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated a martyr memorial and flag park at the India-Nepal international border in Banbasa. The ceremony included a formal prayer, the laying of wreaths, and the hoisting of a large national flag.

During the event, the Chief Minister honored nine widows of fallen soldiers, known as ‘Veer Naris’, and several military medal winners. Dhami noted that the memorial is intended to preserve the memory of soldiers' sacrifices and inspire future generations regarding the hardships faced by those guarding the borders.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Dhami stated that border regions, once viewed as the country’s ‘last areas’, are now being recognized as its ‘first areas’. He also highlighted Uttarakhand’s deep military tradition, noting that nearly every family in the state has a connection to the armed or paramilitary forces.
