Puspakom launches Malaysia's first AI-assisted undercarriage inspection

Puspakom has introduced Malaysia's first AI-assisted undercarriage inspection technology, developed in collaboration with local technology firm Keymag Sdn Bhd. The system utilizes intelligent image analysis to automate the detection of vehicle component defects, including corrosion, oil leaks, brake system faults, axle defects, and structural damage.

The technology significantly improves operational efficiency by reducing the time required for undercarriage inspections of commercial vehicles from approximately 10 minutes to about one minute—a reduction of nearly 90%. This speed increase allows for higher service capacity and reduced waiting times for drivers.

Despite the automation of defect detection, the AI acts strictly as a decision-support tool. The final authority to determine whether a vehicle passes or fails remains solely with Puspakom’s human Vehicle Examiners. The system is currently being deployed on Puspakom’s Mobile Truck Service (MTS) for heavy commercial vehicles.
