Pussy Riot to perform Riot Days in Italy and Hungary

The feminist punk collective Pussy Riot has announced upcoming performances of their production ‘Riot Days’ in Europe. The show, which combines theater, live music, and documentary footage, is scheduled to visit Italy in February 2027, with stops in Milan, Bologna, and Rome. It will also perform at the Hungarian Music House in Budapest on April 23, 2027.

Created by Masha Alyokhina and producer Alexander Cheparukhin, the performance has been continuously updated to reflect current political realities, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the stories of political prisoners. The collective faces significant repression in Russia; members were sentenced in absentia to prison terms in 2025, and the group was designated as an extremist organization and a terrorist group by Russian authorities.

Alyokhina, who previously served time in a penal colony, describes the current political climate in Russia as one where leadership can act without consequence. The production serves as a narrative of resistance against dictatorship, incorporating elements of electronic music, punk, and spoken word.
