Pustec Municipality in Albania to Add Macedonian to Official Website

The Macedonian society Ilinden – Tirana submitted an official request to the mayor and council of Pustec municipality, asking that the municipality's website, currently only in Albanian, also be available in Macedonian.

The request cites Albania's Law No. 96/2017 on the protection of national minorities, which guarantees the right of minorities to use their mother tongue in communications with local authorities. The society argues that a Macedonian‑language version would improve access to public information, enhance communication, and uphold cultural and linguistic diversity.

The appeal was also sent to the Albanian Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination and the national Ombudsman, and the society expects the authorities to consider the request positively and take concrete steps.
