Putian to host 11th Global Mazu Culture Forum
The 11th Global Mazu Culture Forum is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 2 in Putian, Fujian Province, China. The event will include a main forum, 10 thematic sessions, and various supporting activities, with participants expected from 47 countries and regions.
Key technical and humanitarian highlights include the unveiling of version 2.0 of the Mass Conservation Ocean Model (MaCOM), an open-source tool developed by China. Additionally, a ceremony will transfer an integrated smart terminal for the MAZU meteorological early warning solution to Sri Lanka. This early warning system has already been deployed in eight countries, including Pakistan, Ethiopia, and the Solomon Islands.
The forum will also address ecological and economic issues, such as mangrove conservation, the marine economy, and island development. A sub-forum in Sao Paulo, Brazil, will focus on China-Brazil cultural exchanges. The event coincides with the 28th Meizhou Mazu Cultural Tourism Festival, which will feature live broadcasts of traditional sacrificial rituals.
