Putin expresses hope for peace deal while accusing Kyiv of state terrorism
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed that a chance for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine exists, noting that contacts continue primarily through special services. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Putin emphasized that while countries like the US and China are willing to support a settlement, the final resolution must be handled by the involved parties. However, he accused Kyiv of ‘state terrorism’ following Ukrainian warnings to civil aircraft regarding safety risks in Russian airspace.
In the United States, Donald Trump expressed interest in meeting with Putin, stating he would like to hold such a meeting ‘when the war is about to end.’ There are also discussions regarding the possibility of a trilateral summit between the leaders of the US, Russia, and China during the upcoming APEC summit in November.
Diplomatic efforts continue across Europe. Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka suggested that the current military parity between Ukraine and Russia, bolstered by Western support, provides an optimal opportunity to restart intensive peace negotiations. Macinka noted that the conflict has evolved into a clash of symmetrical forces, which may offer a degree of stability to the contact lines.
