Putin and Xi pledge joint push for a more just global order

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Beijing, where they declared a shared commitment to build a "better and more just world". Putin emphasized that Russia and China are strengthening coordination in international organisations such as the UN, BRICS, G20 and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and noted the upcoming 25th anniversary of the SCO as a milestone for joint problem‑solving. Xi echoed the sentiment, stating that the partnership brings "predictability and stability" to a chaotic world and that both sides will continue active cooperation in multilateral settings.

During the visit, around 40 bilateral documents were scheduled to be signed, covering a range of political, economic and security cooperation. Both leaders highlighted the 25‑year partnership treaty on good neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation as a foundation for further progress.

These statements signal a continued effort by the two major powers to shape international norms and present a coordinated front in global governance.
