Putin bans mobile and landline phones, relies on secure lines

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said President Vladimir Putin does not use any mobile or fixed telephone for official communication, relying exclusively on specially protected communication lines.

Security around the Russian president has been intensified. Staff are limited to phones without internet access, video‑surveillance systems have been installed in their homes, and double security checks are routine. Putin has spent weeks in fortified bunkers, reduced his travel schedule and reportedly will not visit military facilities in 2026. The measures, reported by iStories, CNN and the Financial Times and linked to a European intelligence source, were heightened after the death of General‑Lieutenant Fanil Sarvarov.
