Putin congratulates Tokayev on Kazakhstan parliamentary election results

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the results of Kazakhstan's recent parliamentary elections. During a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Putin noted that high voter turnout confirms public support for the country's current political and economic trajectory.

In the elections held on August 1, the ruling Amanat Party secured 65% of the vote. The elections utilized a new electoral system allowing voters to choose between party lists and independent candidates, a move intended to increase political pluralism. President Tokayev stated the results reflect high public confidence in the government amidst ongoing political and economic reforms.
