Republika Srpska leader Dodik meets Putin in Moscow to discuss strategic partnership
Milorad Dodik, leader of Republika Srpska, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss strategic cooperation. During the meeting, Putin expressed support for the ruling coalition in Republika Srpska ahead of the upcoming elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Dodik characterized the relationship between Republika Srpska and Russia as a strategic partnership. He proposed the creation of a high-level advisory body composed of the presidents and prime ministers of both Russia and Republika Srpska to meet annually. The discussions also covered economic cooperation, including energy, industry, and medical technology, such as the potential use of a Russian-developed cancer treatment.
Following the visit, Dodik announced that Republika Srpska will block Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path to European integration until a new administration is formed in the European Union. He also reaffirmed his opposition to the introduction of visas for Russian citizens and any sanctions against Russia. Dodik further stated that the Dayton Peace Agreement has failed and emphasized the need for Bosnia and Herzegovina to be independent of international protectorates.
