Putin reportedly initiates FSB purge to support oligarch Arkadi Rotenberg
Significant personnel changes are expected within Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) following reports that oligarch Arkadi Rotenberg has regained the support of Vladimir Putin. According to Russian sources Cheka-OGPU and Rucriminal.info, the Kremlin is initiating a purge of security officials who allegedly orchestrated actions against businesses linked to Rotenberg.
Serghei Alpatov, head of the FSB Economic Security Service (SEB), has reportedly lost his position and is currently on leave. Additionally, Nikolai Babakov, head of the FSB ‘T’ Directorate, is facing potential dismissal. These shifts follow a period of financial difficulty and legal pressure on Rotenberg’s associates, including the arrest of Konstantin Mahov in connection with construction irregularities at Domodedovo Airport.
