Putin's Krasnojarsk visit triggers temporary fuel price drop in Siberia

In the Siberian city of Krasnojarsk, gasoline and diesel prices fell sharply in the days before President Vladimir Putin’s visit, dropping about 20–24 rubles per litre for premium gasoline and 21 rubles for diesel. Local media reported that the decline was linked to a temporary improvement in fuel supplies and extra deliveries.

After Putin’s brief stay, prices rose back to the levels seen before his arrival, effectively erasing the short‑lived discount. The price swing occurred against a backdrop of a broader Russian fuel crisis caused by Ukrainian drone attacks on refineries, which had previously forced regional rationing and long queues at stations. Officials said the situation was stabilising as more refineries resumed operations, but the episode highlighted how high‑profile political visits can momentarily affect local fuel markets.
