Putrajaya police detain man for provocation during National Day celebrations

A 30-year-old man has been detained following allegations of provocation during the 2026 National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya. The incident, which reportedly occurred around 5:00 AM on August 31, involved the suspect attempting to breach seating area fences, leading to a crowd surge.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the man, wearing orange or brown clothing, allegedly pushing and shoving members of the public as they waited for the gates to open. The resulting commotion caused several individuals to fall and sustain injuries.

Police have received multiple reports regarding the incident. Authorities are investigating the matter under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955. Law enforcement officials have requested that the suspect report to the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters to assist with the ongoing investigation.
