Puyallup Rodeo hosts critical Cinch Playoffs Wildcard Round
The Puyallup Rodeo, held from September 10-13 at the Washington State Fair, serves as a critical Wildcard Round of the Cinch Playoffs. The event features the top 24 contestants from each event in the PRCA Playoff Series standings, offering a vital opportunity for athletes to impact their standing in the PRCA Bill Fick Ford World Standings before the regular season ends on September 30.
Top finishers in each event at Puyallup will qualify for the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, scheduled for September 25-27. With over $1.5 million at stake, the Governor’s Cup is a major factor in securing qualification for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR).
In early competition, Garrett Shadbolt secured a win in bareback riding with a score of 87.5, earning $3,510. In steer wrestling, Tristan Martin and Traver Johnson tied for first place with a score of 4.5, each earning $3,071.25. Three-time defending PRCA World Champion Riley Webb, currently ranked number one in tie-down roping, is also competing to defend his Puyallup title.
