PV GAS loses public company status due to shareholder structure
Vietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) has announced that it no longer meets the legal requirements to maintain its status as a public company. As of August 14, 2026, the company's shareholder structure failed to meet the minimum threshold, where non-major shareholders must hold at least 10% of the total voting shares. Currently, minority shareholders hold approximately 102 million shares, representing only 4.24% of the total voting rights.
Petrovietnam holds a controlling interest of approximately 95.76% in PV GAS. The company stated it will continue to comply with all regulations applicable to public companies for one year before the State Securities Commission officially revokes its status. PV GAS leadership has reported to the Ministry of Finance and the Government regarding plans to maintain stock trading on the exchange.
An extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders is scheduled for September 14, 2026, to be held virtually. The meeting will address personnel matters following recent leadership changes, including the dismissal of Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh from his chairmanship on July 23, 2026. Nguyen Huy Hoang has been appointed to oversee the Board of Directors until a new Chairman is officially appointed.
