PV Sindhu exits Denmark Open after first-round loss
Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu suffered a first-round exit at the Denmark Open Super 750 in Odense. After several withdrawals altered the tournament draw, Sindhu faced Germany’s Yvonne Li instead of her original opponent, world No. 1 An Se-young.
Sindhu took the opening game with a score of 21-13, but Li recovered to win the second game 25-23. Despite holding a 12-7 lead at the interval in the deciding game, Sindhu was unable to maintain the momentum as Li secured a 21-19 victory. This result marks Li’s first win over Sindhu in four meetings.
Following Sindhu’s elimination, a potential Round of 16 matchup between Sindhu and Indian shuttler Tanvi Sharma will not take place. Sharma, who won her opening match, will move on to face Li in the next round.
