Deputy Pável Gaspar Ramírez, president of the Rural Development Commission, participated in the ‘Pulmones Escolares’ (School Lungs) reforestation day in the municipality of Izúcar de Matamoros. The initiative aimed to strengthen environmental culture and community participation in the Mixteca poblana region.
During the event, which took place at Secundaria Taboada and Telesecundaria Niños Héroes, more than two thousand trees and plants were planted. Species included guaje, mezquite, agave mezcalero, lemon, orange, guanábana, chicozapote, and mamey. The project, organized by the State Government through the State of Puebla Information and Communication System (SICOM), seeks to create oxygen and food banks for endemic species while protecting local ecosystems.
Gaspar highlighted the importance of addressing climate change and building a legacy for future generations. He also acknowledged the involvement of federal and state governments, as well as regional higher education institutions like the Universidad Tecnológica de Izúcar de Matamoros.
