PWI South Tangerang hosts chess tournament for Porprov 2026 preparation

The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) in South Tangerang held a chess tournament at the South Tangerang City Government Center on August 22, 2026. The event serves as a preparatory step to build athlete spirit ahead of the 2026 Banten Provincial Sports Week (Porprov).

South Tangerang PWI Chairperson Ahmad Eko Nursanto stated the competition aims to mature local athletes' preparations to secure championships at Porprov 2026. The tournament also functions as a talent search for journalists participating in the upcoming National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas) in Lampung. The South Tangerang Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) expressed full support for the initiative, noting South Tangerang will host the provincial sports event in November 2026.
