Pyeongsan Bookstore reaches 1,200 days with 628,000 visitors
Pyeongsan Bookstore, located near the residence of former South Korean President Moon Jae-in in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, has reached its 1,200th day of operation. Since opening on April 25, 2023, the bookstore has recorded a cumulative total of 628,769 visitors, averaging approximately 523 people per day.
Former President Moon has served as the bookstore's manager, interacting with visitors almost daily and recommending 124 books to date. Many of these recommendations, including works by authors Jeong Ji-a and poet Jeong Ho-seung, have reached bestseller lists.
The bookstore utilizes its operating profits for public interest programs. These initiatives include delivering books to underprivileged groups, such as special schools and remote mountainous areas, resulting in 4,466 books being gifted to 2,122 individuals. Additionally, the bookstore has supported local book culture by donating 5,230 books to approximately 120 small libraries and providing lecture fee support for 100 local bookstores.
