Pyeongtaek police investigate group brawl involving foreign nationals

Police in Pyeongtaek are investigating a mass brawl involving approximately 10 foreign nationals that occurred late at night in Poseung-eup. Witnesses, including members of a local voluntary crime prevention unit, captured footage showing individuals using bats to strike a person who was crouched on the ground.

Two men in their 20s, a Russian national and a Kyrgyzstani national, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of violating laws regarding violent acts. Both individuals were treated at a hospital for injuries, including fractures. Police noted that while the men attempted to flee and wooden clubs were found in their vehicle, they were released after identification because they may have also been victims of unilateral assault.

Authorities are currently questioning two other foreign nationals who were present as witnesses and are working to identify and locate the remaining participants in the fight. Due to language barriers, investigators are utilizing interpreters to determine the specific motives and circumstances of the incident.
