Pyeongtaek to host 18 KB Insurance Stars home games

Pyeongtaek City has signed an agreement with the men's professional volleyball team KB Insurance Stars to host 18 home games for the 2026-2027 V-League season at the Ichung Cultural Sports Center. The first home match is scheduled for November 1 at 2:00 PM against Samsung Fire.

Mayor Choi Won-yong described the move as a significant first step toward fulfilling his campaign promise to attract and establish professional sports teams in the city. The city intends to use this season as a trial period to analyze spectator capacity, citizen response, local economic impact, and facility management capabilities. These findings will inform future decisions regarding professional sports infrastructure and the potential for permanent team hosting.

The agreement follows the closure of the team's previous home venue. To improve the fan experience, discussions are underway to replace spectator railings with glass to ensure better visibility. Pyeongtaek is also considering shuttle bus services in cooperation with local universities to address potential parking shortages during high-attendance matches.
