Pyramids FC terminates Ramadan Sobhi's contract after four-year ban

Pyramids FC is moving to terminate the contract of player Ramadan Sobhi following the confirmation of a four-year suspension. The decision comes after the Swiss Federal Tribunal rejected Sobhi's appeal against a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in September 2026.

The suspension stems from a doping case initiated in August 2023 regarding sample integrity and testing procedures, rather than the confirmed ingestion of a prohibited substance. While the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed an earlier decision by an Egyptian hearing committee, CAS issued a four-year ban in November 2025.

Pyramids FC coach Mohamed Nagy Gedo stated that the club's contracts include clauses allowing for automatic termination in the event of long-term suspensions. Sobhi has since shared footage of himself practicing boxing on social media to maintain physical fitness during the period in which he is prohibited from participating in official matches or training with any club facilities.
