Pyrenean villages Bagergue and Bielsa showcase traditional mountain life

The Pyrenees mountain range hosts several small villages characterized by distinct seasonal landscapes and traditional stone architecture. In the Catalan Pyrenees, Bagergue, located in the Val d’Aran, maintains a population of 107 inhabitants as of early 2024. The village is noted for its alpine aesthetic, featuring stone houses with slate roofs and wooden balconies that serve as vertical gardens.

In the Aragonese Pyrenees, the village of Bielsa is situated in the Pineta Valley at the foot of Monte Perdido. The area is defined by its deep connection to nature and historical resilience, having rebuilt itself following devastation during the Civil War. The region is a significant destination for observing seasonal changes and high-mountain landscapes, including the Monte Perdido massif and its surrounding peaks.
