Pyrgos: 12-year-old girl harassed following fatal accident

A 12-year-old girl was reportedly chased and harassed by four Roma women in Pyrgos, Greece. According to her mother, the child was pursued through the streets while being verbally abused and having stones and broken glass thrown at her. The girl eventually found refuge in a local business.

The incident is linked to a fatal traffic accident that occurred on September 7 in the Lambeti area, which resulted in the death of a 17-year-old Roma youth. The victim's relatives allegedly identified the 12-year-old's mother as being responsible for the accident. However, the mother denies any involvement, stating she does not drive and does not own a vehicle.

The family reports receiving death threats, including claims that the attackers knew their home address and personal details. Due to these threats, the family has been forced to temporarily leave their home. Following the incident, the four women were brought before the justice system and received prison sentences.
