Q Energy inaugurates 11 MWp solar plant in Marne, France

Q Energy has inaugurated the Le Chênet solar plant in the Marne department of France. Located in the communes of Sapignicourt and Hauteville, the 11 MWp facility was built on a former sand and gravel quarry that operated between 1992 and 2009.

The installation consists of approximately 18,000 photovoltaic panels spread across 7.8 hectares of previously artificialized land. The plant is expected to produce enough renewable electricity annually to meet the needs of more than 4,800 people. To maintain the site and restore agricultural use to the former quarry, sheep are used for grazing beneath the solar panels.

The project, which took five years to complete, is estimated to generate approximately 1,600,000 euros in tax revenue for the local municipality, intercommunality, and department over a 40-year period.
