Q-KON and SISTEC launch OneWeb satellite network point in Angola
African satellite engineering firm Q-KON and Angolan technology company SISTEC have installed a OneWeb network point of presence (PoP) in Luanda. This infrastructure enables the local routing of satellite data traffic, eliminating the need for data to traverse international networks.
By integrating the Twoobii OneWeb service, which utilizes low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, the system addresses data security and sovereignty requirements for banks, financial institutions, government bodies, and critical infrastructure operators. The solution provides Angolan IP addresses, facilitates regulatory compliance, and allows for real-time service monitoring with local technical support.
The project was developed with engineering support from Eutelsat. The initiative aims to reduce communication latency and improve connectivity for businesses and public institutions, particularly in regions where terrestrial network coverage is limited.
