Qantas adds extra flights to Kangaroo Island during ferry suspension

Qantas is increasing flight capacity to Kangaroo Island to mitigate the impact of a three-day suspension of SeaLink ferry services in October. The ferry suspension will occur on Tuesday, October 20, Wednesday, October 21, and Thursday, October 22, to allow for infrastructure works required to commission SeaLink’s new ferry fleet.

To support residents, tourism operators, and visitors, Qantas will operate an additional afternoon flight from Adelaide at 4:30pm on each of the three affected days. Return services will depart from Kingscote at 5:40pm. These extra services will provide more than 400 additional seats, complementing existing daily morning flights and scheduled Monday and Friday afternoon services.

Tourism Minister Emily Bourke stated that Kangaroo Island remains open for business and noted that the additional air capacity provides a practical solution to maintain connectivity during the temporary disruption.
