Qantas expands Perth operations with Jetstar job increases

Qantas Group is significantly expanding its presence in Western Australia, positioning Perth as its second-largest international gateway after Sydney. As part of this expansion, Jetstar plans to more than double its local cabin crew workforce, increasing roles from 40 to 90.

The airline has established a new Perth cabin crew base and an emergency procedures training centre. This facility will support over 1,200 employees from Qantas, QantasLink, and Jetstar annually through practical training, including virtual reality and aircraft door simulators. An Embraer E190 trainer is scheduled for installation early next year.

Additional investments include cabin upgrades for 19 Perth-based QantasLink A320 aircraft, featuring new seats and Wi-Fi. Jetstar is also launching a new Perth-Christchurch route on October 27 and will increase Perth-Melbourne services to up to four return flights daily during the summer holiday period.
