Qantas launches Mercedes-Maybach transfer service at Sydney Airport

Qantas has launched a luxury trial service at Sydney Airport, providing selected First Class passengers with chauffeured Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV transfers between terminals. Running from September to November 2026, the service aims to replace the standard airport transfer bus for passengers connecting from international arrivals at Terminal 1 to domestic departures at Terminal 3.

The airside transfer is accompanied by a Qantas host and is designed to smooth the connection process for premium travelers. While the service offers a more seamless experience than the traditional 15-minute bus ride, passengers are still required to clear immigration, collect checked baggage, and pass through customs before utilizing the transfer facility.

Qantas has not specified the exact criteria for passenger selection, though the service is limited to invited First Class travelers. The airline intends to use passenger feedback from this three-month trial to determine whether to expand or continue the service. This move brings a level of service to Sydney similar to luxury hub treatments offered by carriers like Lufthansa and SWISS at their respective airports.
