Qantas opens $65M flagship crew training center in Sydney

The Qantas Group has opened a new 6,300-square-meter Emergency Procedures Training Centre (EPTC) at its Mascot campus in Sydney. This facility is part of a AU$100 million (US$65 million) investment in training infrastructure for Qantas, Jetstar, and QantasLink.

The center is designed to train more than 10,000 pilots and cabin crew annually. It features integrated widebody and narrowbody training facilities, including replica aircraft cabins with realistic seats and galleys, door trainers for eight different aircraft types, multi-story escape slides, rafts, and a virtual reality training area.

Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson stated that the investment supports the airline’s fleet and network expansion. The new technology allows crews to train on specific aircraft types before they arrive in Australia, including the Airbus A350-1000ULR intended for the airline’s Project Sunrise ultra-long-haul service. This Sydney center is one of seven training facilities currently operated by the Qantas Group across Australia.
