Qantas operates A380 charters for NFL teams traveling to Melbourne

Qantas operated two A380 charter flights to transport the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers to Melbourne for the first NFL regular-season game held in Australia. The long-haul operations covered approximately 12,900 kilometres each, carrying over 20 tonnes of team equipment and more than 2,000 meals.

To meet the specific dietary requirements of the professional athletes, Qantas worked with team nutrition staff to develop specialized menus. The catering featured high-protein options, including steak sandwiches with extra steak, double portions of cheeseburgers, and various high-protein snacks. The airline reported loading more protein than on almost any other flight.

In addition to the customized catering, Qantas provided a themed onboard experience, including limited-edition pyjamas and matching pillow sets in each team’s colors. The airline serves as the official airline partner of the NFL in Australia and New Zealand.
