Qantas prepares Airbus A350 ultra-long-haul service

Qantas is preparing to launch its Project Sunrise services using new Airbus A350-1000ULR aircraft, designed for ultra-long-haul routes such as Sydney to London and New York. The new fleet will feature redesigned cabins across all classes.

The First Class cabin will consist of six suites in a 1-1-1 configuration. These suites include a separate 22-inch reclining armchair and a two-meter lie-flat bed, separated by 1.4-meter-high partitions. While the layout offers privacy and a personal wardrobe, some observations regarding the mockups suggest the space for the seat and bed may feel constrained due to the high walls and fixed armrests.

Estimated pricing for First Class suites is projected to reach between $14,000 and $17,000 one-way, with return fares potentially approaching $40,000. Business Class suites are expected to cost approximately $22,000 for a return trip, featuring 47-inch walls and sliding doors. Premium Economy and Economy classes will also see updated amenities, including 4K screens and improved seat pitches.
