Qatar continues preparations for F1 and MotoGP races

The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) has confirmed that preparations for the MotoGP and Formula 1 races at the Lusail International Circuit are continuing as planned for November. Abdul Rahman bin Abdullatif Al Mannai, president of the QMMF, stated that the country remains safe and that the airport is fully operational, emphasizing that organizers cannot pause preparations despite regional geopolitical volatility.

Formula 1 is expected to make a final decision regarding the November 29 Grand Prix in mid-September. If the races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi cannot proceed due to security concerns, the championship season may conclude in Europe, with venues like Imola in Italy being considered as potential backups. This follows previous disruptions where F1 had to adjust its calendar due to regional conflict.

While the World Endurance Championship (WEC) has already canceled its scheduled October round in Qatar, the QMMF remains committed to its long-term hosting goals, including the return of the WEC in 2027. The MotoGP race remains scheduled for November 8.
