Qatar Airways announces fleet expansion and growth plans
Qatar Airways is entering a new growth phase as it prepares for the winter travel season. Hamad Ali Al-Khater, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, reported that passenger numbers have recovered to approximately 90% to 95% of last year’s levels. Hamad International Airport is currently managing over 140,000 passengers daily, aided by the return of international carriers such as British Airways.
The airline has announced significant long-term expansion plans, including the addition of 138 new aircraft to its fleet over the next five years. By the end of this year, the carrier expects to receive new long-range aircraft featuring updated cabin configurations, which will allow the airline to serve more distant destinations and secondary airports that were previously not economically viable.
Additionally, a new generation of the Qsuite business class product is scheduled for unveiling in summer 2027. To enhance the passenger experience at its hub, Hamad International Airport has also introduced the Travel Recovery Studio at Orchard Concourse C, offering complimentary wellness sessions including breathing exercises and stretching to help travelers recharge.
