Qatar Airways announces fleet upgrades and new cabin products
Qatar Airways is undertaking a significant overhaul of its fleet and cabin offerings. The airline plans to debut its next-generation Qsuite business class on the Airbus A350-1000 in mid-2027. This shift follows delays with the Boeing 777X, which is now not expected to receive deliveries until late 2027 at the earliest. The new Qsuite features larger beds, movable 4K OLED screens, digital privacy dividers, and wireless charging.
Group CEO Hamad Ali Al-Khater confirmed that the airline is seriously considering the introduction of a premium economy cabin and is currently designing a new first-class product. Additionally, the airline is assessing various aircraft configurations to increase the number of business-class seats to meet rising demand.
On the narrow-body front, Qatar Airways expects to take delivery of its first Airbus A321LR within the coming weeks and before the end of 2026. These 10 aircraft will feature flat-bed business class seating, described as a ‘mini-Qsuite’ type product, to serve destinations in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
