Qatar Airways retires Airbus A330 fleet and reassigns pilots

Qatar Airways is retiring its Airbus A330 fleet as part of a regular fleet review to introduce newer, more efficient aircraft. The airline expects to receive 138 new aircraft over the next five years.

Reports indicate that several A330 aircraft, including four leased from Oman Air in 2025, never entered active service with the carrier. Some of these aircraft have already been reassigned, such as one A330-200 that transitioned to RwandAir.

Additionally, Qatar Airways is facilitating a pilot reassignment program to RwandAir. A spokesperson confirmed that a group of A330 pilots has been offered the opportunity for voluntary short-term secondment to the Rwandan airline to support operational requirements for both carriers.
