Qatar and Pakistan discuss expanded trade routes at Belt and Road Summit

At the 11th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong, officials from Qatar and Pakistan engaged in discussions regarding expanded trade connectivity and regional economic partnerships.

Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, highlighted the importance of Hong Kong as a global hub for finance and logistics. He noted that trade between Qatar and Hong Kong reached approximately $1.7 billion over the last four years and expressed interest in using these ties to increase Qatari access to Asian markets.

In separate talks, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, and Dr. Al Sayed explored the possibility of establishing trade routes connecting Pakistan and Qatar through the Middle East and Türkiye to reach Europe. The discussions also covered regional stability and the potential for increased bilateral trade volumes between the two nations.
