Qatar Basketball Federation announces 2026-27 season calendar

The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) has released its competition calendar for the 2026-27 season. The men’s general league is scheduled to begin on October 10, utilizing a single round-robin format followed by a knockout stage. While dates for the Qatar Cup and the HH the Emir Cup are yet to be announced, they are expected to follow a knockout format.

Youth competitions will commence earlier in the season, with the under-14 league starting September 12, followed by the under-16 and under-19 leagues on September 13 and 14, respectively. The calendar also includes an annual under-12 festival to support grassroots development.

Separately, Qatar’s U23 women’s 3x3 basketball team is competing in the FIBA 3x3 Youth Nations League 2026 – Asia West/Pacific in Singapore. The squad, consisting of Dima Khalid, Sara Zayed, Dana Al-Sayed, and Fatima Jamal, is participating in a multi-stage tournament to gain international experience. Following several matches against teams including Australia, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, the team continues its campaign through August 26.
