Qatar Charity provides cash aid to 1,530 displaced families in Somalia

Qatar Charity has provided cash assistance to 1,530 families facing food insecurity in displacement camps on the outskirts of Mogadishu, Somalia. The project specifically targeted families residing in the Denili area.

Each recipient family received 60 USD, an amount equivalent to the value of a complete food basket, intended to help alleviate the living burdens caused by inflation and rising commodity prices. Abdul Fattah Adam Maalam, the director of the Qatar Charity office in Somalia, stated that these interventions are part of a continuous effort to support the most vulnerable groups amidst increasing economic and humanitarian challenges.

This aid comes amid broader warnings regarding the humanitarian situation in the region. Doctors Without Borders recently reported that half of the children in displacement camps in southwestern Somalia are suffering from acute malnutrition due to declining humanitarian funding, drought, and increasing insecurity, urging immediate global action to prevent famine.
